My passion is defending human beings facing criminal charges in federal, state and juvenile courts, specializing in cannabis, medical marijuana, and cybercrime cases.
I have been a criminal defense lawyer since 1998, and have represented criminal defendants in Superior Courts all over the State of California. I have defended human beings in the following California counties: Alameda, Amador, Butte, Calaveras, Colusa, Contra Costa, El Dorado, Humboldt, Lake, Los Angeles, Marin, Mendocino, Merced, Monterey, Napa, Orange, Sacramento, San Diego, San Francisco, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Solano, Sonoma, Stanislaus, Sutter, Tehama, Tuolumne, Ventura, and Yolo. I have also represented defendants in several federal courts, including the Northern District of California (at the San Francisco, San Jose, and Oakland federal courthouses), the Eastern District of California (Sacramento and Fresno federal courthouses), the Central District of California (Los Angeles), the Southern District of California (San Diego) and the District of Wyoming (Casper).
My law offices are located in artistic, independent Sebastopol, in gorgeous Sonoma County, California. Before establishing a successful practice in Sonoma County in early 2010, I shared office space for over ten years with esteemed colleagues at Pier 5 Law Offices in San Francisco, a a community of independent sole practioners specializing in aggressive criminal defense. I consider myself lucky to have been trained by living legend J. Tony Serra, a master of the noblest art : defending the accused before a jury.
I am a member of the California State Bar, California Attorneys for Criminal Justice, Sonoma County Bar Association, California NORML, , Cannabis Action Network, Americans for Safe Access, Stanford Alumni Association, Association of Yale Alumn, and a lifetime member of the NORML Legal Committee. I am also a member of the Board of the ACLU of Sonoma County.
In 2006, I graduated from Gerry Spence's Trial Lawyers College, which is considered the most prestigious and selective trial advocacy college in America.

I also graduated from Stanford Law School, where I concentrated in the field of criminal defense, and completed advanced courses such as White Collar Crime in Silicon Valley, High Tech Crime, Advanced Criminal Procedure, and Cyberspace Law.

While at Stanford, I worked as a legal researcher for Stanford Law Professor and high tech crime defense lawyer Thomas Nolan in Palo Alto.I also worked as a law clerk for the Federal Public Defender in San Francisco.
I earned my undergraduate degree from Yale College in 1992, a B.A. in Philosophy.
